About Zuzu
At the age of nine, ZuZu Sampson faced a challenge: he could not find Braille books featuring certain characters. Frustrated by the lack of options and compounded by his visual impairment, he took the initiative to write and publish his own books. ZuZu, a young author with a passion for superhero stories, found that superhero books in Braille were scarce. In second grade, he decided to create his own books and advocate for Braille literacy. By the end of that school year, ZuZu had completed a Braille manuscript titled “Braille Boy.”
At the age of ten, ZuZu published “The Adventures of Braille Boy: Teamwork,” the first in his series. ZuZu expresses his gratitude to everyone who supported him in his writing journey and ongoing education. He is particularly thankful to Theresa Kelly, his Braille teacher; Mrs. Rosie Fiorillo, his one-on-one aide; and Theresa Lehman, his preschool Braille instructor. Tammy Suits has been his advocate since infancy. ZuZu also extends his heartfelt thanks to his siblings and parents for their unwavering love and support in making his dream of publishing his books a reality.
ZuZu has a passion for music and plays the keyboard, having performed in recitals featuring classical and jazz music. In his spare time, ZuZu enjoys gaming, with the PS5 being his preferred companion alongside his musical pursuits and schoolwork.
